Welcome to the Energy & Environmental Laboratory (E2L) in the Department of Mechanical & Energy Engineering at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI)! Our research team are striving to address the challenges associated with the every-growing crisis on energy and natural resources. The goal is to develop practically viable energy materials and electrochemical systems to achieve energy storage, water treatment, battery recycling, etc. Meanwhile, we aims to unravel the fundamental structure-property-performance interplays to achieve rational bottom-up materials design. Current research interests are in redox flow batteries, organic battery materials, redox mediators, membrane materials, porous carbon, solvation structures, ionic liquids, etc. We adopt highly interdisciplinary approaches including organic and organometallic synthesis, materials science, electrochemistry, spectroscopic characterizations and theoretical calculations.

This is the right place to explore the unknowns and satisfy your curiosity!
We are seeking motivated graduate, undergraduate and pre-college students to join our research group.
